A custom service option preserves identities supplied by other contact providers.
Designed for the contact, not the app
Three steps. No account-linking theatre.
Cloud Contacts records how to reach a person. It does not claim access to that person's messaging account.
- 01
Choose the contact
Open Contact Detail and choose Messaging Apps. Existing identities appear together instead of becoming separate toolbar buttons.
- 02
Choose the service
Pick a known messaging app or enter a custom service name. Cloud Contacts keeps it as a real instant-message property.
- 03
Use it with context
Copy the identity, open a supported route, update it, remove it, or create an expiring secure contact link.
Useful even without an integration
Safe actions, honest fallbacks.
Some services publish a dependable profile or chat route. Others do not. Cloud Contacts opens documented routes where possible and keeps copy or system sharing available everywhere else.
Copy
Put the exact saved identity on the clipboard without changing the contact.
Open
Use a supported universal link or app route, with a copy fallback when opening fails.
Move
Carry service-aware identities in contact QR codes and vCard files.
Synchronize
Preserve instant-message properties through providers that can represent them.
Secure contact handshake
Verify the exchange. Never overstate the identity.
An expiring signed link lets the recipient check that the offered fields were not changed and approve each one before saving. It is signed, not encrypted: anyone with the link can read its details, and expiry does not erase saved copies.
Compare contact cards, QR codes, files and expiring links →What “Verified shared link” means
- The signed payload was not changed.
- The link was still inside its expiry window.
- The recipient explicitly approved the field.
Built to travel with the contact
One data model, several paths.
Contact providers
Keep messaging values as instant-message properties when the provider supports them.
Provider-to-provider copy
Carry the service name and identity without turning either into a note or account.
Apple Contacts
Use the system instant-message field, including custom service names.
CardDAV and vCard
Export and import service-aware IMPP values for portable contact exchange.
QR contact cards
Preserve messaging identities without granting them a verified status.
Clear answers
Messaging identity questions.
Is a messaging identity another contact account?+
No. It is a property of a person, like a phone number or email address. Adding a Telegram username or WeChat ID does not sign Cloud Contacts into that service and does not turn it into a contact provider.
Does “Verified shared link” mean the messaging account is verified?+
No. It means the signed Cloud Contacts link was valid, unexpired, and unchanged when the recipient approved the field. Only a real authorization response from the messaging provider could verify ownership of that account.
What happens when an app has no safe profile link?+
Cloud Contacts copies the saved identity or opens the system share sheet. It does not invent undocumented links that could open the wrong screen or expose data.
Can these identities move with a contact?+
When the destination supports instant-message properties, Cloud Contacts preserves the service and value through contact synchronization, provider-to-provider copies, vCard files, and contact QR codes.
Can one contact have more than one identity?+
Yes. A contact can hold multiple services and more than one identity for a service. Cloud Contacts keeps a primary value first and deduplicates matching service-and-identity pairs.
