Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting
Why does my login fail with an βAuthentication Errorβ?
If your email provider (like Apple iCloud, Yahoo, AOL, Fastmail, Zoho, or Yandex) has Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled, you cannot use your main login password. You must generate an App-Specific Password in your provider's security settings and paste it into Cloud Contacts.
What is the difference between Guided Mode and Direct Path?
Guided Mode performs RFC 6352 auto-discovery to find all address books under your account automatically. Direct Path connects directly to a specific address book folder, useful for self-hosted instances with custom URL rewrites.
Can I connect self-hosted servers with self-signed SSL?
Yes. Cloud Contacts adheres to iOS security policies. For self-signed certificates, install your server CA profile into iOS Settings β General β VPN & Device Management and enable Full Trust under Certificate Trust Settings.
Are my CardDAV server credentials safe?
Credentials and server tokens are stored in your device's secure system Keychain. Cloud Contacts sends them only to the CardDAV endpoint you configure; they are not routed through a Cloud Contacts credential service.
