Contact capture shortcuts

One phrase.The right contact task.

Add, find, scan, or share without digging through menus. When a camera is involved, Cloud Contacts opens the full review workflow so speed never removes your final say.

A direct entrance for each job.

Names describe the outcome, not the technology. The two QR actions stay deliberately separate: one reads, the other shows.

Make it yours

Use the entrance that fits the moment.

Cloud Contacts donates the actions to the system. You decide whether they live behind a voice phrase, a tap, or a larger personal workflow.

  1. 1

    Ask by voice

Use a suggested phrase or your own natural variation. The system asks for any input the action still needs.

  2. 2

    Tap in Shortcuts

Find Cloud Contacts actions in the Shortcuts app, add them to your library, and arrange the ones you use most.

  3. 3

    Put it near the task

Place a shortcut in a system shortcut widget or include it in a personal automation when the system supports your chosen trigger.

Fast to begin. Deliberate at the finish.

Recognition happens on your device, and a camera shortcut cannot turn an uncertain scan into a saved contact by itself. You see the fields, correct them, and choose the outcome.

Quick answers

Before you add a shortcut.

Does scanning save a contact immediately?+

No. Camera-based shortcuts open the same review workflows as the app. Business-card details, QR contact data, and multiple addresses remain reviewable before you choose a save or create action.

What is the difference between Scan QR Code and Show My QR Code?+

Scan QR Code reads someone else's code with the camera. Show My QR Code displays your own contact code so another person can scan it. The shortcut names and phrases keep these opposite actions separate.

Where does text recognition happen?+

Business-card and address text recognition happens on your device. Cloud Contacts presents the recognized fields for review rather than treating camera output as finished contact data.

Can I use the shortcuts on Mac?+

The contact-capture shortcut set is currently designed for supported iPhone and iPad versions, where the camera workflows are available. Cloud Contacts is also available on Mac for broader contact-management work.

Can I edit a shortcut?+

Yes. Add a Cloud Contacts action to the Shortcuts app, then combine it with the system actions and prompts that fit your workflow. The in-app review and permission safeguards still apply when a camera action opens.
